Student Services

Once admitted, Cumberland College has an advisor at each campus location to provide you with the support and assistance you need to be successful in your educational endeavours.

Supports

It’s important that you start off your experience at Cumberland College in a positive manner. The College utilizes former international students as mentors for incoming students.

Mentorship supports may include:

  • acting as a contact person for international students to ensure a welcoming environment;
  • assistance finding accommodations;
  • helping with health card and Social Insurance Number applications, as well as banking;
  • tours around the community (grocery shopping, medical, recreational activities); and
  • sharing personal experiences with Canadian culture and education.

Career Services can provide you with current information about careers and education and support services including:

  • Career Counselling
  • Career Resource Centres
  • Programs

Career consultants can help to guide clients through a process of self-assessment, goal setting, exploration, career planning, and decision making.

Our Career Resource Centre has a variety of resources:

  • educational calendars and application forms
  • occupational information
  • correspondence course information
  • financial assistance information
  • occupational employment and occupational exploration resources

Cumberland College advisors provide free personal counselling to our students. Our advisors will also provide referrals whenever necessary.

Personal counselling may include help with general life skills such as banking, driving, finances, daycare and other things that may be important to you.


In the event that a student concern is brought forward and a student advocacy group is required, Cumberland College will form a student body to provide student support. This student-driven body will be formed as need and within 10 working days of the concern being brought forward.
